Day One - Travel and Arrival in Arizona
Arriving in Arizona By Air - Sky Harbor Airport!

Phoenix, the fifth-largest city in the U.S., is home to Sky Harbor International Airport, a hub bustling with activity. With shops, galleries, art displays, and restaurants, the airport itself is an attraction. However, your priority will likely be a smooth transition from the airport to your accommodations after a long flight.

Like most major airports, Sky Harbor is busy, with constant movement in every direction. Upon landing, you’ll step into a crowded gate area filled with travelers from your flight, as well as passengers preparing to board. Navigating through this space to the baggage claim and ground transportation can feel overwhelming, especially after a long journey. The baggage claim is located on the street level of Terminals 3 and 4.

Pro Tip: Arrival gates can be noisy and chaotic. Instead of immediately heading toward the exit, take a moment to look around. Often, there is an empty gate in the opposite direction where you can pause and let the crowd disperse before moving forward. Additionally, nearby restrooms may be less crowded—using one before heading to baggage claim can make your transition smoother.

Pro Tip: TSA Cares is a program offered to help you through the screening process. Visit the TSA CARES page for details.
Pro Tip: PHX - Sky Harbor Airport promotes itself as the World's Friendliest Airporrt - There are volunteers ALL WEARING PURPLE SPORT JACKETS to help you! They are everywhere walking around looking for people who need assistance. Don't hesitate to ask them anything!
