With adventures to Northern AZ and Grand Canyon or to Southern AZ, and Saguaro National Park, our adventures enhance life-skills and build family bonds that last a lifetime.

Day 1 – Mesa

  • Arrive in Phoenix

  • Transfer to hotel (Self)

  • Welcome Pizza Party

Day 2 – Payson, Camp Verde, Grand Canyon

  • Breakfast

  • Montezuma Castle National Monument. *

  • Sedona Heritage Museum 

  • Lunch in Sedona

  • Grand Canyon -Introduction* (Rim Trail)

  • Dinner – Mission Inspiration Dinner

Overnight Grand Canyon (B,L,D)

Day 3 – Grand Canyon – Northern AZ

  • Breakfast 

  • Conquer The Canyon Hike – Grand Canyon*    

  • Trail lunch.

  • Grand Canyon East View – Navajo Trading Post

  • Wupatki National Monument.* 1 hour walk.

  • Sunset Crater. (TBA)* 1 hour hike.

Autumn & Winter Adventure Itinerary  

Day 1 - Arrive in Phoenix/Mesa 

  • Pizza Dinner - Orientation

Overnight - Mesa, AZ (D)

Day 2 - Exploring the Sonoran Desert - Mesa – Apache Junction  

  • Hike - Hieroglyphic Trail to Petroglyphs 2.9 miles.  The Hieroglyphic Trail is a great family-friendly hike through Hieroglyphic Canyon in the Superstition Wilderness. 

  • Divergent Adventure Course - Family Problem Solving/Communication using Geocaching 

  • AZ Museum of Natural History & Dinosaur Mountain

Overnight Mesa (B,L,D)

Day 3 -  Sonoran Sensory Experience

  • Hike Hidden Valley Trail - 3.6 miles

  • Divergent Adventure  Course - Student Problem Solving/Communication - Geocaching 

  • i.d.e.a. museum - The i.d.e.a Museum includes popular art and art-inspired activities, adding science, engineering, and design-thinking to multi-sensory experiences.

Overnight Mesa (B,L,D)

Day 4 -- Southern Arizona Experience, Marana, AZ

  • Saguaro National Park - Interpretive Hike & Lunch

  • Divergent Adventure Course - Incorporating Sensory Experiences 

  • Arizona Sonora Desert Museum - World-renowned zoo, natural history museum, and botanical garden, all in one place. 

Overnight: Mesa (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch

  • Morning - Family Free Time

  • Afternoon - Divergent Adventure Course - Parent Seminar/Student activity.

  • Divergent Adventure Course - Adventure Travel Application and Generalization

Day 6 - Exploring Phoenix

  • Hike - Papago Buttes 

The magnificent Papago Buttes for our final  Sonoran Desert hike. Ancient rock formations, stunning landscapes, and breathtaking views. 

  • Mystery Castle Tour

  • Divergent Adventure Course - Social Communication - using social stories and photographs to create memories and foster communication. 

Overnight – Mesa (B,L,D)

Day 7 - ​Depart For Home Or Optional Grand Canyon Tour (B)

Pre-Adventure 4-Week Virtual Adventure Education Course.

While in Arizona, Adventure Includes: 

  • Adventure Host, Guide, and Educator. Divergent Adventures hosts and guides are masters-level or higher professional educators,  behavior analysts, and certified autism travel professionals. They stay with the group throughout the itinerary. Depending upon size, they frequently drive the group.

  • Adventure Learning Course throughout the itinerary.

  • 7-Day/6-Night Adventure

  • 6-Nights Hotel Accommodations per the itinerary. (2 people per room).

  • Meals per the itinerary: Breakfast-5; Lunch-5, Dinner-5.

  • Group Transportation throughout the itinerary. (Driver/Guide)

  • Access and entrance fees to museums, historical & cultural sites, and parks as listed in the day-to-day itinerary.

  • Detailed “Know Before You Go” information includes recommended websites, reading lists, packing lists, what to bring, weather, and more.

This Divergent Adventure trip DOES NOT include:

  • All international and domestic airfares.

  • Arrival and Departure Airport Transfers and all transfers outside of the itinerary schedule.
